There are more, but these are the two heavy-hitters that I have used most as a professional copywriter.
Before I get into some comparing and contrasting, you should know both of these programs do the exact same thing.
There are some minor differences, but both check for grammar and style. With that, each has a free and a paid version. The free version allows you to check for grammar only. The paid version adds the ability to check for stylistic errors like passive voice, clarity, repeated words, etc.
In both, you can also choose what type of writing you’d like the program to lean toward. Aka, by choosing one of these, it tells the A.I. the tone you’d like your writing to match. The different tones being:
- Academic
- Business
- Technical
- Medical
- Creative
- Casual
